Foundation of Data Science is geared toward high school students. As data science has become the foundation of many disciplines, this course will prepare students well for college, especially if they want to pursue STEM-related fields.
It teaches students how to explore data scientifically and shows the importance of data analysis. It also explains programming and data analysis in Python. The topics included in this course adopts a breadth-first approach to offer a big picture of data science. Specifically, at the end of this course students will be able to:
- Understand the basics of Python programming.
- Understand important statistics concepts such as sampling, hypothesis testing, and confidence intervals.
- Understand experimental design to gather data.
- Use appropriate classification and inference tools to analyze data.
